Inclusion
“Inclusion” is an ongoing body of work reflecting the daily school life of one with disabilities. Children with mental retardation were kept separate from typically developing school children until the 1970’s. In the year 1998, a law was put in place mandating children with disabilities be placed in classrooms that had the “least restrictive environment” depending on the student. This body of work demonstrates that children with and without disabilities have similar wants and needs. Each student, no matter the diagnosis, can learn from each other.
Each piece is machine and hand embroidered on 10” x 12” linen with DMC embroidery thread.
